Watch Jyesha Wren, CNM at Highland Hospital at Alameda Health System in Oakland, CA introduce a new program called BElovedBIRTH Black Centering: Group Perinatal Care by, for, and with Black People. This program expands on the Centering model of care to provide holistic, culturally attuned and racially concordant perinatal care rooted in the frameworks of health equity, black feminism, reproductive justice, and research justice. The program aims include lifting up the community wisdom, voices, experiences, and expertise of Black birthing people, and reducing the impact of racism on maternal and infant health care experiences and outcomes.
The webinar was held during Black Maternal Health Week honoring the 2020 theme “Centering Black Mamas: The Right to Live & Thrive”.
