For many women of color, the topic of family planning can be a loaded subject that can bring up inter-generational trauma related to the historical mistreatment and misuse of various contraceptive methods. Centering groups provide a safe space and opportunity for patients to not only express their concerns/or questions, but also for providers to have open conversations around systemic racial inequities in family planning usage. We have provided scenarios to encourage providers to think through how they may acknowledge patients' questions/ concerns and give them the tools to approach family planning through a racial justice lens.
